A cowboy whose friend has been swindled out of his ranch and then murdered must take care of the man's son, then he goes after the killers.

Ranger Bill Williams goes to prison to get information on Chuck Adams. Then a fake posse chase gets him invited into Adams' gang. But just as he learns who Adams' boss is and is about to make his move, his cell mate who escaped from prison returns to identify him.

When Steve Harper chases down some rustlers, he loses his gun in the ensuing fistfight. After Wilson is killed, Steve's gun is found nearby and he as arrested. Jimmy Wilson breaks him out of jail and he heads after the real killer.

Bill Maywood, posing as The Pinto Kid, is an undercover agent for Wells Fargo, sent to investigate stagecoach hold-up in the area. He meets and falls in love with Bess Wilson, daughter of local rancher George Wilson, whom he is falsely accused of murdering. Henry Jethrow, the town banker, is mixed up in stagecoach robbing, cattle-rustling and land-grabbing activities, is also in love with Bess, and threatens to foreclose on the Wilson ranch if Bess resists his unwanted advances. Bill, now a wanted fugitive, and Bess cook up a scheme to pay off the mortgage, and also allow Bill to uncover the real culprit.

A cowboy captures two rustlers and collects a $5000 reward. Using the money to take a vacation, he winds up getting accused of a murder he didn't commit.
